ANSWER:

  • Zeros of the quadratic polynomial = 5 and (-2)

GIVEN:

  • Quadratic polynomial = x²-3x-10 = 0

TO FIND:

  • Root/Zeros of the quadratic polynomial.

SOLUTION:

=> x²-3x-10 = 0

=> x² -5x+2x -10 = 0

=> (x²-5x) +(2x-10) = 0

=> x(x-5) +2(x-5) = 0

=> (x-5)(x+2) =0

Either, (x-5) = 0

=> x -5 = 0

=> x = 5

Either; (x+2) = 0

=> x = (-2)

Zeros of the quadratic polynomial = 5 and (-2)

NOTE:

Some important formulas:

  • (a+b)² = ++2ab
  • (a-b)² = +-2ab
  • (a+b)² = (a-b)² +4ab
  • (a-b)² = (a+b)² -4ab
  • (a+b+c)² = +++2ab+2bc+2ca
