QUADRATIC POLYNOMIAL=2x²+5x-3

WE CAN FIND THE ROOTS OF THE POLYNOMIAL TROUGH TWO WAYS.

1.USING QUADRATIC FORMULA

2.SPLITTING THE MIDDLE TERM

2x²+5x-3=0

WE HAVE TO SPLIT THE MIDDLE TERM IN SUCH A WAY THAT ITS PRODUCT HAS TO BE EQUAL TO THE CONSTANT TERM.

AS THE x² CO-EFFICIENT IS 2 WE HAVE TO MULTIPLY IT WITH THE CONSTANT THAT IS -3.BUT THIS STEP SHOULD NOT BE WRITTEN IN THE ANSWER WE HAVE TO KEEP IT IN OUR MIND.

2x²+5x-3=0

2x²+6x-1x-3=0(here 6x-1=6 which is equal to the product of 2 and -3)

TAKE COMMON,

2x(x+3)-1(x+3)=0

(x+3)(2x-1)=0

NOW EQUAL THEM TO ZERO,

x+3=0

x=-3

2x-1=0

x=1/2

THEREFORE -3,1/2 ARE THE ROOTS.
