given equation : x² + 6x + 5 = 0

by splitting middle term.

⟹x² + ( 1 + 5) x + 5 = 0

⟹x² + 1x + 5x + 5 = 0

⟹x( x + 1) + 5(x + 1) = 0

⟹(x + 1) (x + 5) = 0

x + 1 = 0

x = -1

or

x + 5 = 0

x = -5

roots of the given quadratic equation are (-5) and (-1)
