2x²-6x-2 = 0

Divide each term by 2, we get

=> x²-3x-1=0

=> x²-3x = 1

=> x² - 2*x*(3/2) = 1

=> x² -2*x*(3/2)+(3/2)² =1+(3/2)²

=> (x-3/2)² = 1 + 9/4

=> (x-3/2)² = (4+9)/4

=> (x-3/2)² = 13/4

=> (x-3/2) = ±√(13/4)

=> x - 3/2 = ± √13/2

=> x = 3/2± √13/2

=> x = (3±√13)/2

Therefore,

x = (3+√13)/2 or x = (3-√13)/2
