SOLUTION:

f(x) = x^2 -6x -2 = 0

x^2 -2*(x)*(3) -2 = 0

Additing 9 both the sides, we get

x^2 -2*x*3 +9-2 = 9

x^2 -2*x*3 +9 = 9+2

(x-3)^2 = 11

x-3 = 11 or x-3 = 3+11

So, x = 11+3 or 3-11.

So, roots are 3-11 and 3+11.
