3(x-4)² - 5(x - 4) = 12

=> 3(x²-8x+16) - 5x + 20 = 12

=> 3x² - 24x + 48 -5x + 20 = 12

=> 3x² - 29x + 56 = 0

=> 3x² - 21x - 8x + 56 = 0

=> 3x(x-7) - 8(x-7) = 0

=> (3x-8)(x-7) = 0

Required roots of the given quadratic equation :

8/3 and 7
