Given :-

x² - 3x - 10

To Find :-

Roots

Solution :-

Spilt the middle term

x² - (5x - 2x) - 10 = 0

x² - 5x + 2x - 10 = 0

x(x - 5) + 2(x - 5) = 0

(x - 5)(x + 2) = 0

Either

x - 5 = 0

x = 5

or,

x + 2 = 0

x = -2

Answer:

x = 5 and x = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2 - 5x + 2x - 10 = 0

x(x - 5) + 2( x - 5) = 0

(x - 5) (x + 2) = 0

Therefore x = 5 and x = -2
