 {b }^{2}  - 4ac =  {3}^{2}  - 4 \times 1 \times 1

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac = 9 - 4

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac = 5

x =  \frac{ - b +  -  \sqrt{ {b }^{2}  - 4ac} }{2a }

x =   \frac{ - 3 +  -  \sqrt{5} }{2}

x =    \frac{ - 3 +  \sqrt{5} }{2}  or \: x =  \frac{ - 3 -  \sqrt{5} }{2}
