here,

a=1, b= -(7+1) = -8, c= 7

Now we have to find D which is b^2-4ac,

By substituting we get,

D=(-8)^2 - 4(1)(7)

D=36

now quadratic formula is (-b ± D)/2a

By substituting values we get,

alpha(root 1)  =  [-(-8) + 6)]/2(1) = 7

and beta(root 2) = [-(-8) - 6)]/2(1) = 1
