Solution:-
x +  \frac{1}{x}  = 3 \\  \frac{ {x}^{2} + 1 }{x}  = 3 \\  {x}^{2}  - 3x + 1 = 0 \\  x(x - 3) =  - 1 \\ x  =  - 1 \\ x =  - 1 + 3 =  2 \\
x = -1 , 2

Heya !!!

X+ 1/X = 3

X² + 1 = 3
--------
X

=> X² + 1 = 3X

=> X² - 3X + 1

Here,

A = Coefficient of X² = 1

B = Coefficient of X = -3

And,

C = Constant term = 1

Discriminant ( D ) = B² - 4AC

=> (-3)² - 4 × 1 × 1

=> 9 - 4

=> 5

Therefore,

Roots of the given equation = -B+ ✓D/2A or -B - ✓D/2A

=>- ( -3 ) + ✓5 / 2 × 1 or -(-3) - ✓5 / 2 × 1

=> 3+✓5/2 or 3-✓5/2
