Given : 27, 60, 40, 30, 32.

To Find : SD

Solution:

Mean = ∑ x /n

Mean = (27 + 60 + 40 + 30 + 32 )/5

= 189/5

= 37.8

Standard Deviation = √∑ (x - mean)²/n

n = 5

∑ (x - mean)²

= (27 - 37.8)² + (60 - 37.8)²  + (40 - 37.8)²  + (30 -37.8)²  + (32 - 37.8)²

=  116.64 + 492.84  + 4.84  + 60.84  + 33.64

= 708.8

Standard Deviation = ∑ ((x - mean)² /n)

= √708.8/5

= √141.76

= 11.9

Standard Deviation = 11.9
