shaded area=total area- non shaded area...right....
so
area of square=lengthy*breadth
total area=8*6
unshaded area=1*1
so shaded area =24-1
=23 cm^{2}

side of outer square =8 cm
Area of square =side²=64 cm²
subtract 2cm from both side and we get new square of side 6 cm
area of square= 6x6-36 cm²
area of shaded region = 64-36=36 cm²
