QuesTion :-

Find the side of a square whose perimeter is same as that of a rectangle whose length is  40 cm and breadth is 35 cm.

SσluTioη

Length of rectangle = 40 cm

Breadth of rectangle = 35 cm

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l + b) units

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (40 + 35) cm

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (75) cm

Perimeter of rectangle = 150 cm

∵ Perimeter of rectangle = Perimeter of square

Perimeter of square = 150 cm

\boxed {\rm {Side \ of \ square = \frac{Perimeter}{4}}}\\\\\\\rm {\Rightarrow Side \ of \ square = \frac{150}{4}}\\\\\\\rm {\Rightarrow Side \ of \ square = 37.5 \ cm}

GIVEN:

  • Perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle
  • Length of rectangle = 40 cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 35 cm

TO FIND:

  • What is the side of the square ?

SOLUTION:

We have given that, the perimeter of square is equal to the perimeter of the rectangle

☞ Firstly, we have to find the perimeter of the rectangle

To find the perimeter of rectangle, we use the formula:-

✫ Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth) ✫

According to question:-

\sf{\implies Perimeter = 2(40 + 35)}

\sf{\implies Perimeter = 2 \times 75}

\bf{\implies Perimeter = 150 \: cm}

Perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle

Perimeter of square = 4 \times side

\sf{\implies 4 \times side = 150}

\sf{\implies Side = \cancel\dfrac{150}{4}}

\bf{\implies Side = 37.5 \: cm}

Hence, the side of the square is 37.5 cm ❞
