Given : a square pyramid with base edge 40cm and lateral edge 25cm

To find : Slant height

Solution:

base edge 40cm

Half of base edge = 20 cm

Diagonal = 40√2 cm

Half of Diagonal = 20√2 cm

Height of pyramid² = Lateral edge² - (half of diagonal)²

=> Height of pyramid² = 25² - (20√2)²

=> Height of pyramid² = 25² - (20√2)²

=> Height of pyramid²  =  625 - 800

=>  Height of pyramid²  =  -175

Which is not possible

Hence There  is mistake in data

other Wise Slant height²   =  ( Base edge / 2)² + ( height )^2

=> Slant height² = (20)² + Height of pyramid²

and we can find Slant height using Height of pyramid²   = -175

Here mathematically we can get slant height = 15 ( which does not make any sense)
