$m = \frac{y2 -y1}{x2 - x1}$

where,

y2=8. y1= -2

x2=-3. x1=-1

putting values in formula,

$m = \frac{8 - ( - 2)}{( - 3) - ( - 1)}$

$m = \frac{8 + 2}{ - 3 + 1}$

$m = \frac{10}{ - 2}$

$m = - 5$

slope of line through given point is -5
