Find the mid point:

Mid point = ( (x1 + x2)/2 , (y1 + y2)/2 )

Mid point = ( (0+8)/2 , (-4+0)/2) = ( 2, -2)

Find the gradient:

Gradient = (y2-y1) / (x2 - x1)

Point of origin = (0,0) , mid point = (2, -2)

Gradient = (-2)/(2) = -1

Answer: The gradient is -1
