Slope =y2-y1/x2-x1

=7-4/4-2

=3/2

Midpoint x1+x2/2, y1+y2/2

=2+4/2, 4+7/2

=6/2,11/2

=3,11/2

Answer:

The slope of a line can be calculated with the help of the formula y2-y1/x2-x1

let us assume here that x1=2 , y1=4 and x2=4 and y2=7 , by this we can calulate the slope as ,

slope m= 7-4/4-2 , and the result will be 3/2

now for next part we should know the equation of the line which can be obtained by using point slope form , that is y-y1 / x-x1 = m here m is the slope as calculated above ,

the given equation is , y-4 / x-2 = 3/2 by solving this we can get the result as , 3x-2y+2=0

now we can check whether 5,8 is in the line or not that is if it satisfies the given equation of line it is in the line otherwise not ,

it can be checked as, 3*5-2*8+2=1 the result is not coming equals to zero hence this point is not in the line
