Find the slope of the line perpendicular to the line whose equation is 5x + 3y = 12.

Solution:

Compare 5x+3y-12=0 with

ax+by+c=0,we get

a=5, b = 3 , c = -12

Slope of a line (m1) = -a/b

= -5/3

Slope of a line perpendicular to

given line (m2) = (-1/m1)

= -1/(-5/3)

= 3/5

Therefore,

Required slope (m2) = 3/5
