Question -

Find the slopes of the lines passing through the points-

1)A(-2,3) and B(8,-5)

2)C(4,-3) and D(6,-3)

Solution -

We know that,

slope(m) =  \frac{ y_{2} -  y_{1}}{ x_{2 } -  x_{1} }

1)AB =  \frac{ - 5 - 3}{8 - ( - 2)}

AB =  \frac{ - 8}{8 + 2}

AB =  \frac{ - 8}{10}

AB =  \frac{ - 4}{5}

Therefore the slopes of the lines passing through the points A(-2,3) and B(8,-5) is -4/5

2)CD =  \frac{ - 3 - ( - 3)}{6 - 4}

CD =  \frac{ - 3 + 3}{2}

CD =  \frac{0}{2}

CD = 0

Therefore the slopes passing through the points C(4,-3) and D(6,-3) is 0
