Find the smallest number of four digits which when divided by 6, 8, 12 and 20
leaves (i) no remainder, (ii) the remainder 5 in every case.

First take out lcm of 6,8,12,20.

It is 120

But it is a 3 digit number and we have to find smallest 4 digit number.

This means that we have to multiply 120 till we get the first 4 digit number in 120 table

120*1=120

...........

120*8=960

120*9=1080

This means that 1080 is the smallest number that when divided by 6,8,12,18 leaves no remainder.

In 2nd only we have to do is add 5 to 1080
