Find the smallest number that must be subtracted from 1456 to make it a perfect square

First of all you find out the square root of 1456 =38.15 .which is not a perfect square but we see 1444 is perfect square . square of 38 .

smallest no . subtracted from given no. is

1456 - 1444 = 12 .
required number =12.
