Given: a number 7600

To find:

the smallest number which must be added to 7600 to make a perfect square.            square root of perfect square .

Solution:

To solve his problem long division method is used.

step 1:

                    87

                   ______

          8       |   7600

                        64

                    _______

           167    |     1200

                           1169

                      _______

                               31

Now we don't need to continue further.

(87)² = 7569

(88)² = 7744

given number 7600 <  (87)²

              but    7600 >  (88)²

It means square root of the 7600 lies between 87 and 88.

7744 - 7600  =  144

to make 7600 a perfect sqaure of 88 , we need to add 144 to 7600.

means 7600 +144 = 7744.

Answer 1:  144 must be added to 7600 to make a perfect square.

Step 3:

now find square root of 7744

again we will do long division here.

                             88

                        ______________

             8         |   7744

                            64

                         ______________

              168    |    1344

                               1344

                         ________________

                             00

                        _________________

square root of 7744 is 88.

Answer 2:  square root for 7744 is 88.
