 {2}^{8}  \times  {4}^{ - 4}

 {4}^{ - 4} can \: be \: written \: as \:  {2}^{2 \times  - 4}  =  {2}^{ - 8}

This • sign between the numbers means multiplication

So, Using the identity

 {a}^{m}  \times  {a}^{n}  =  {a}^{m + n}

So, the solution will be

 {2}^{8}  \times 2 {}^{ - 8}

2 {}^{8  + ( - 8)}

 = 2 {}^{8 - 8}

 =  {2}^{0}

Now we know that any number with power 0 is equal to 1

So,

 {2}^{0 }  = 1
