X = 11 & Y = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

X + Y = 16 (equation 1)

X - Y = 4 (equation 2)

So by using substitution method

X = 4 + Y (from equation 2)

Put X = 4 + Y  value in equation 1

X + Y = 16

4 + Y + Y = 16

2Y = 14

Y = 7

Put Y = 7 value in equation 2

X - Y = 4

X - 7 = 4

X = 4 + 7

X = 11

Note : You can also do the same by elimination method, it is more easy but I cant solve here by Elimination method so I have done by Substitution method
