QUESTION :-

find the solution of the form x is equal to a Y is equal to zero and x is equal to zero Y is equal to b for the following equations 2 X + 5 Y equal to 10 and 2 X + 3 Y equal to 6 is there any common solution?

2x + 5y = 10 and 2x + 3y = 6

SOLUTION :-

=> In a first equation,

=> 2x + 5y = 10 --------(1)

=> 2x + 5(0) = 10 ------( put y = 0 in equation)

=> 2x = 10 ------(divide by 2 on each side)

=> .°. x = 5.

=> Now, putting x = 5 in equation (1).

=> 2(5)+ 5y = 10

=> 10 + 5y = 10

=> 5y = 0

=> .°. y = 0.

=> Since, (5,0) is a solution.

=> In a second equation,

=> 2x + 3y = 6 -------(2)

=> 2x + 3(0) = 6 ------(put y = 0 in equation)

=> 2x = 6 -----( divide by 2 on each side)

=> .°. x = 3.

=> Now, putting x = 3 in equation (2).

=> 2(3) +3y = 6

=> 6 + 3y = 6

=> 3y = 0

=> .°. y = 0.

=> Hence, (3,0) is a solution.

Therefore, the given equations have a common solution (2,0).
