let 1/x = u

therefore.

4u+3y = 8...................(i)×3

6u-4y = -5.................(ii)×2

_____________

12u+9y = 24

12u-8y =-10

(-) (+) (+)

_______________

17y = 34

y = 2

and substitue 'y' in eqn (i)

4u+3y = 8

4u+3(2) =8

4u = 8-6

u = 2/4

u= 1/2..

we know u = 1/x

1/2=1/x

x=2
