Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

x-(x-1)/3 = (x+1)/4

To find :-

Find the solution ?

Solution :-

Given equation is x-(x-1)/3 = (x+1)/4

=> [3x-(x-1)]/3 = (x+1)/4

=> (3x-x+1)/3 = (x+1)/4

=> (2x+1)/3 = (x+1)/4

On applying cross multiplication then

=> 4(2x+1) = 3(x+1)

=> 8x+4 = 3x+3

=> 8x-3x = 3-4

=> 5x = -1

=> x = -1/5

Therefore, x = -1/5

Answer:-

The solution for the given problem is -1/5

Check:-

If x = -1/5 then

LHS = x-(x-1)/3

=> (-1/5)-[(-1/5)-1]/3

=> (-1/5)-[(-1-5)/5]/3

=> (-1/5)-(-6/5)/3

=> (-1/5)-(-6/15)

=>(-1/5)-(-2/5)

=> (-1/5)+(2/5)

=> (-1+2)/5

=> 1/5-----(1)

RHS = (x+1)/4

=> [(-1/5)+1]/4

=> [(-1+5)/5]/4

=> (4/5)/4

=> 4/(5×4)

=>1/5-----(2)

From (1)&(2)

LHS = RHS is true for x = -1/5

Verified the given relations in the given problem.
