{\huge{\underline{\underline{\mathfrak{\pink{A}\green{n}\blue{s}\red{w}\orange{e}\pink{r}}}}}}

factoring  4x2 + 8x + 9

The first term is,  4x2  its coefficient is  4 .

The middle term is,  +8x  its coefficient is  8 .

The last term, "the constant", is  +9

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant   4 • 9 = 36

Step-2 : Find two factors of  36  whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is   8 .

     -36    +    -1    =    -37

     -18    +    -2    =    -20

     -12    +    -3    =    -15

     -9    +    -4    =    -13

     -6    +    -6    =    -12

     -4    +    -9    =    -13
