Speed of the light in air = 3 × 10^8 m/s

Given Refractive index of diamond = 2.4

Refractive index = speed of the light in air / speed of the light in medium.

2.4 = 3 × 10^8 m/s / Speed of light in medium

Speed of light in medium = 3×10^8 / 2.4 m/s.

= 1.25 × 10^8 m/s.

Velocity of light in medium= Velocity of light in vacuum/ Refractive index of medium
-----------------
Refractive index of medium = 2.4
speed of the light in vaccum = 3 x 10 ^{8}

= 3 x 10^8 / 3.4

1.25 x 10 ^8 m/s
