Given:

Temperature (T)=117^{\circ}\ C

=(273+117)=390\ K

Density of oxygen at N.T.P. (d)=1.43\ kg/m^{3}

constant (=1.41

R=8.314 J/mole K

To Find:

speed of the sound=?

Solution:

Mass of the oxygen (M)=32\ gm

=\dfrac{32}{1000}\\=0.032\ kg

speed of sound in oxygen at absolute temperature

v=\sqrt{\dfrac{\gamma RT}{M} } \\=\sqrt{\dfrac{1.41\times8.314\times390}{0.032} } \\=327.9\ m/s.

The speed of the sound in the oxygen is 327.9 \ m/s.
