A man can row 3/8th of a km upstream in 30 minutes and return in 12 minutes. Find the speed of the boat in still water?

Speed = Distance / Time
Let S1 be the speed upstream and S2 be the speed downstream.
S1 = (3/8) ÷ (30/60) = 0.75 km/hr
S2 = (3/8) ÷ (12/60) = 1.875 km/hr
Averaging the two we get (0.75 + 1.875)/2 = 1.31 km/hr (answer)
