we can find the square of (23 + 1) by using the identity ( a + b) ^2

(a + b) ^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2*a*b

(23 + 1)^2 = (23)^2 + (1)^2 + 2*23*1

= 529 + 1 + 46

= 576
