as we know that (a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

now let a = 40

and b = 2

substitute the values,

=>(40+2)^2 = (40)^2 + 2×40×2 + (2)^

=>(42)^2 = 1600 + 160 + 4

=>(42)^2 = 1764

therefore the square root of 42 is 1765
