1001

On decomposing,

⇒  1001 = 1000+1            ---- ( 1 )

Here,

a = 1000 and b = 1

Squaring on both sides of equation ( 1 ),

⇒  (10001)²=(1000+1)²

                   =(1000)2+2(1000)(1)+(1)²                 [ (a+b)=a²+2ab+b² ]

                   =1000000+2000+1

                   =1002001

∴  (1001)²=1002001
