Given:

64, -100

To Find:

The sum in two different ways.

Solution:

We have the commutative property of Addition which states that:

a+b = b+a

So we can add the numbers in both ways we get the same answer in both cases.

Case 1:

a+b

  • 64 + (-100)
  • 64 - 100 (+ve and -ve will become -ve)
  • -36 ( larger number have -ve sign)

Case 2:

b+a

  • -100+64(+ve and -ve will become -ve)
  • -36 ( larger number have -ve sign)

So the sum is -36
