Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

1 \times 2 + 2 \times 3 + 3 \times 4 + .... + n(n + 1)

 =  \sum^{n}_{k = 1}k(k + 1) \\

  =  \sum^{n}_{k = 1} ({k}^{2}  + k )\\

  =  \sum^{n}_{k = 1} {k}^{2}  +    \sum^{n}_{k = 1}k \\

  =  \frac{n(n + 1)(2n + 1)}{6} +  \frac{n(n + 1)}{2}   \\

 =  \frac{n(n + 1)}{2} ( \frac{2n + 1}{3}  + 1) \\

 =  \frac{n(n + 1)}{2}  \times  \frac{2n + 4}{3}

 =  \frac{2n(n + 1)(n + 2)}{6}

 =  \frac{n(n + 1)(n + 2)}{3}  \\
