Find the sum of an AP. 40, 36, 32,....….., is-44?

a=40,d=(-4) and l=(-44)
then, let the total no. of terms be n.Then.
Tn=(-44) ,a+(n-1)d = -44
40+(n-1)(-4)= -44
40 + (-4n+4) =-44
-4n+36= -44
-4n = -44 -36
-4n = -80
n=20
Required sum=n/2.(a+l)
20/2.(40+(-44))
= 10.(-4)
-44.
