SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The sum of first 20 terms of the AP

√2 , √8 , √18 ,...

EVALUATION

Here the given arithmetic progression is

√2 , √8 , √18 ,...

Then the arithmetic progression can be rewritten as

√2 , 2√2 , 3√2 ,...

First term = a = √2

Common Difference = d = √2

Number of terms = n = 20

Hence the required sum

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{20}{2}  \bigg[(2 \times  \sqrt{2} ) + (20 - 1) \sqrt{2} \bigg] }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  10 \times  \bigg[2 \sqrt{2} +19 \sqrt{2}    \bigg] }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  10 \times  21 \sqrt{2}  }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  210 \sqrt{2}  }
