Given,

(i) (–8) + (+5) + (–3) + (–2)

ii) (–7) + ( –9) + ( +4) + (+3)

To find,

The value of the given parts.

Solution,

The value of the first part and second part will be -8 and -9 respectively.

According to the question,

(i) (–8) + (+5) + (–3) + (–2)

We know that the multiplication of a positive and a negative integer is always negative.

-8+5-3-2

Subtracting 8 from 5,

-3-3-2

-8 (The negative integers are added but the result is always negative.)

ii) (–7) + ( –9) + ( +4) + (+3)

-7-9+4+3

Following the BODMAS rule (adding the two positive integers first),

-7-9+7

-7-2

-9

Hence, the values of the first part and the second part are -8 and -9 respectively.
