To find: The sum of a) -312, 39 and -192 and b) 37, -2, -65, 18

Note:

  • +ve added to +ve remains +ve.
  • -ve added to +ve means you will have to do normal subtraction. Once the result is obtained, put the sign of the number that has greater value.
  • -ve added to -ve means you will have to add and put the -ve sign.

Answer:

a) -312, 39 and -192

(-312) + 39 + (- 192)

= (-273) + (-192)

= -465

b) 37, -2, -65, 18

37 + (-2) + (-65) + 18

= 35 + (-65) + 18

= (-30) + 18

= -12

Hope it helps :)
