multiply both sides by 8
4x+x=1
5x=1
x =  \frac{1}{5}

 \frac{x}{2}  +  \frac{x}{8}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\taking \: lcm \:  \\  \\   \frac{4x + x}{8}  =  \frac{1}{8 }  \\ \\   \frac{5x}{8}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \\ cross \: multiplying \\  \\ =  >  40x = 8 \\  =  >  x =  \frac{8}{40}  =  \frac{1}{5}
