  • The surface area of the rectangular prism = 336 cm².

Given :

  • The length of the rectangular prism = 11 cm.
  • The breadth of the rectangular prism = 6 cm.
  • The height of the rectangular prism = 6 cm.

To Find :

  • The surface area of a rectangular prism.

Solution :

We know that,

Surface area of the rectangular prism,

 \star \:  \:  \underline{ \underline{ \boxed{ \bf{2(wl + hl + hw)}}}}

Where,

  • w = width.
  • l = length.
  • h = height.

We have,

  • Width = 6 cm.
  • Length = 11 cm.
  • Height = 6 cm.

Now, substitute all the given values in the formula of the surface area of a rectangular prism.

\implies \bf{2 \bigg((6 \: cm)(11 \: cm) + (6 \: cm)(11 \: cm) + (6 \: cm)(6 \: cm) \bigg)} \\  \\  \\ \implies \bf{2 \bigg((66 \:  {cm}^{2}) + (66  \: {cm}^{2}  ) + (36 \:  {cm}^{2} ) \bigg)} \\  \\  \\ \implies \bf{2(168 \:  {cm}^{2} )} \\  \\  \\ \implies \bf{336 \:  {cm}^{2} } \\  \\  \\ \:  \:  \therefore \bf \: Surface \: Area = 336 \:  {cm}^{2}

Hence,

The surface area of the rectangular prism is 336 cm².

Additional Information :

Some more formulas related to the rectangular prism :-

1) Surface area = 2 (wl + hl + hw)

Where,

  • w = width.
  • l = length.
  • h = height.

w is also written as b and b stands for breadth.

We can also written as :

→ 2 (bl + hl + hb)

 \quad

2) Volume = whl

Where,

  • w = width OR b = breadth.
  • l = length.
  • h = height.
