Given :

Radius of the cone = 8 cm

Height of the cone = 12 cm

To be found :

Total Surface Area (T.S.A) of the cone

Here is the formula

πrl+πr²

In which r = radius of cone

And l = slant height of cone

Formula for finding slant height of cone -

\boxed{\boxed{ l^{2} =h^{2} + r^{2} }}

So

l² = h² + r²

\implies l² = (12)² + (8)²

\implies l² = 144 + 64

\implies l² = 208

\implies l = 14.42 cm

Now

Total Surface Area of the cone

 = \pi \: rl + \pi \: r^{2}   \\  \\  = \pi \: r(l + r)  \\  \\  = \frac{22}{7}   \times 8 \times (14.42 + 8) \\  \\  =  \frac{22}{7}  \times 8 \times (22.42) \\  \\  = 563.2

Hence

TSA of cone is 563 cm² approximately.
