Answer:

-40° C or -40°F

Explanation:

we know that

°F = 9/5(°C) + 32

if temperature in both the temperature scale is same i.e °F = °C

then

°C = 9/5(°C) + 32

°C - 9/5(°C) = 32

[5°C - 9°C] / 5 = 32

-4°C = 32 × 5

°C = [32 × 5] / -4

°C = -[8 × 5] = -40

we can verify this by taking value of °C = 40

°F = 9/5(-40) + 32

°F = -72 + 32

°F = -40
