25

The 6th term of given series is 25.

Solution:

The questions says find the sixth term from the last that is -40 being the first number in the series,

Therefore, to find the first series now we need the common difference of the series i.e. as we can see that the number 17, 14, 11 are in difference of 3, therefore, let us take the common difference as 3. Hence, the sixth number from the last or now which has become the first is

T_{n}=a_{1}+(n-1) d

T_{6}=-40+(6-1) 3

T_{6}=-40+(5) 3

T_{6}=-25

Therefore, the sixth term from the end of the series is -25.

Answer:

6^{th}\:term\:from \:the\:end\\of \:the \:A.P=-25

Step-by-step explanation:

Given A.P : 17,14,11,...,-40

First term (a)=17

 Common\: difference (d)\\=a_{2}-a_{1}\\=14-17\\=-3

If arranging the terms in reverse order,we get

-40, -37,-34,...,14,17

Now,

First term (a)= -40,

common difference (d)=3

n^{th}\:term\\=a_{n}=a+(n-1)d

Here, n = 6\\a_{6}=-40+(6-1)\times 3\\=-40+5times 3\\=-40+15\\=-25

Therefore,

6^{th}\:term\:from \:the\:end\\of \:the \:A.P=-25
