Given :- Find the third member in the Pythagorean triplet if two of the members are 99 and 101.

a) 21

b) 20

c)100

d) 98

Answer :-

Let , 101 is the hypotenuse and let third member is x .

so, using pythagoras theorem we get,

→ x² + 99² = 101²

→ x² = 101² - 99²

→ x² = (101 + 99)(101 - 99)

→ x² = 200 * 2

→ x² = 400

→ x² = 20²

→ x = 20 (Ans.)
