Let the third proportion be x

so, ✒2.4x=9.6

✒x=9.6/2.4

✒x=4.0 or 4

Hence,the third proportion is 4.

As there are 3 terms in a proportion and 1 is missing.

The fact to find in this way is that the missing term is the 3rd term.

Hence it says that the 1st and 3rd term must be equal to the middle term.

For this if we divide the 1st and 2nd term we get the third term.

Which when multiplied by the first term gives the 2nd term.

1st × 3rd term = 2nd term.

2.4 ×4 => 9.6

9.6=9.6
