Answer:

17

Step-by-step explanation:

= ( Hypo )2 = ( Height )2 + ( Base )2

= ( 8 )2 + ( 15 )2

= 64 + 225

= √ 289

Hypo = 17

To find : third side of triangle

Given :  height of right triangle is 8cm and base is 15 cm.

Solution :

  • As per given data we know that  height of right triangle is 8cm and base is 15 cm.
  • Let , ABC be the right angled  triangle . Where , BC be the base and AB be the height of triangle and AC be the hypotenuse .

       i.e. AB = 8\ cm and  BC = 15\ cm

  • To find third side of triangle we use pythagoras theorem  .
  • AC^{2}= AB^{2}+ BC^{2}

       AC^{2} =(8)^{2} +(15)^{2}  \\AC^{2}  = 64  + 225\\AC^{2} =289  \\AC = 17

Hence ,  third side of triangle is 17 \ cm .
