sides of a triangle are 8 cm , 15 cm , 17 cm

by using heron's formula

semi perimeter of the triangle =

8 + 15 + 17 / 2

= 40 /2

= 20 cm

now , s = 20 cm

using this formula

\sqrt{s \times (s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

\sqrt{20 \times (20 - 8)(20 - 15)(20 - 17)}

\sqrt{20 \times 12 \times 5 \times 3}

\sqrt{2 \times 2 \times 5 \times 2 \times 2  [tex]\times 3 \times 5 \times 3}

2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 5

60 cm

Area of the triangle = 60 cm

Area of the triangle = 1/2 × Base × height

60 = 1/2 × 15 × height

60 × 2 /15 = height

120 / 15 = height

8 cm = height
