Given info : the temperature of olive oil of mass 2 kg from 25°C to 90°C using a 1500 watt heater. the specific heat capacity of olive oil is 1970 J/Kg/°C.

To find : the time required to raise the temperature of olive oil is...

solution : energy dissipated by heater to raise the temperature of olive oil, Q = msΔT

   = 2 kg × 1970 J/kg/°C × (90°C - 25°C)

   =  2 × 1970 × 65 J

   = 256100 J

now the power of heater = energy dissipated by heater/time taken to dissipate the energy.

⇒ 1500 Watt = 256100 J/time

⇒ time = 256100/1500 = 170.73 sec ≈ 171 sec

therefore the time required to raise the temperature of olive oil is 171 sec(approx).
